Textile shredding and fiber recovery
Recovering valuable fibers from mixed textile waste
Case study
Textile shredding and fiber recovery
An industrial textile shredder and fiber separation line designed for mixed textile waste and insulation material. The system recovers reusable fibers of different lengths, suitable for new yarns, nonwovens and fillings.
Challenges
Mixed textile waste with varied compositions (cotton, polyester, blends) and contaminants (buttons, zippers)
Need to recover fibers at controlled lengths without excessive degradation
Large volume of textile waste with dust and fine particle content
The Urstag solution
Multi-stage shredding
Shredders with adjustable blades that reduce textile material in stages, without overheating and without excessive fiber degradation.
Contaminant separation
Metal detectors and pneumatic separators remove buttons, zippers and other foreign bodies from the material stream.
Classification and dedusting
Screens and pneumatic separators sort fibers by length and remove fine dust for a clean final product.
Results
Recoverable fiber with low contamination, suitable for reintroduction into yarn, nonwoven and filling production. The system efficiently processes large volumes of textile waste with minimal losses.
